  • butter knife

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 large Cuban bread loaf or 2 sturdy sandwich rolls
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 6 oz roast pork thinly sliced
  • 4 oz deli ham thinly sliced
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 0.5 cup dill pickle slices patted dry
  • 2 tbsp butter softened
  • garlic powder optional for butter

Instructions

  • Slice the bread lengthwise and open it like a book.
  • Spread yellow mustard evenly on the inside of the bread.
  • Layer Swiss cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  • Add the sliced roast pork in an even layer.
  • Add the sliced deli ham over the pork.
  • Add the dill pickle slices over the ham.
  • Add more Swiss cheese if desired, then close the sandwich and press gently.
  • Spread softened butter on the outside of the bread.
  • Heat a skillet or panini press over medium heat.
  • Place the sandwich in the skillet and press with a heavy pan.
  • Cook for 3–5 minutes per side, until the bread is golden and crisp and the cheese is melted.
  • Let the sandwich rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

Use medium heat so the bread crisps while the cheese melts. Pat pickle slices dry before layering to keep the sandwich from getting soggy.
