Equipment

  • High-powered blender with tamper tool
  • Wide shallow serving bowl (chilled)
  • Sharp knife and cutting board for toppings
  • Small dry skillet for toasting coconut

Ingredients

Smoothie Bowl Base

  • 2 packets frozen red dragon fruit (pitaya) approximately 7 oz / 200g total — straight from freezer
  • 3 tbsp full-fat canned coconut milk NOT carton coconut milk — start with 2 tbsp, add more only if blender stalls
  • 0.5 frozen banana fully frozen solid, peeled
  • 0.5 cup frozen mango chunks

Toppings

  • 0.5 fresh mango, sliced into thin wedges fanned across one side of the bowl
  • 1 kiwi, peeled and sliced into thin rounds overlapped slightly in the center
  • 0.25 cup fresh blueberries clustered in one section
  • 2 tbsp large coconut flakes, toasted toasted in dry skillet 2 to 3 minutes until golden
  • 2 tbsp granola clustered in one corner
  • 1 tsp chia seeds sprinkled over the surface
  • 1 tsp honey or agave thin zigzag drizzle over completed bowl

Instructions

  • Prep all toppings before blending: slice mango and kiwi, wash blueberries, toast coconut flakes in a dry skillet 2 to 3 minutes until golden. Chill serving bowl in freezer 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of full-fat canned coconut milk to the blender first. Add frozen dragon fruit packets, frozen banana, and frozen mango chunks directly from the freezer.
  • Blend on highest speed using a tamper to push frozen fruit toward the blades. Blend 45 to 60 seconds until completely smooth and thick like soft-serve. Add liquid only one teaspoon at a time if the blender genuinely stalls.
  • Pour immediately into the chilled bowl. Work quickly — arrange toppings in distinct sections: mango fan on one side, kiwi rounds in the center, blueberries in one corner, granola in another, coconut flakes scattered across, chia seeds sprinkled over.
  • Drizzle honey or agave in a thin zigzag over the completed bowl. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use frozen red dragon fruit specifically — white dragon fruit produces a much paler, less visually dramatic result. Use only 2 to 3 tablespoons of full-fat canned coconut milk — far less than a drinkable smoothie. Add liquid only one teaspoon at a time if blender stalls. The base should look like soft-serve ice cream — thick enough that a spoon stands upright. Chill the serving bowl before use. Prep all toppings before turning on the blender. Work quickly — the base softens within 2 to 3 minutes. Arrange toppings in distinct sections for the most visually dramatic result.
