Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer
  • spatula
  • Wide shallow serving dish
  • small bowl

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups mini twist pretzels, roughly crushed plus extra for serving
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 8 oz full-fat block cream cheese, softened room temperature
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1.5 cups whipped topping (Cool Whip) or freshly whipped cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 oz strawberry Jello (1 package)
  • 0.75 cup boiling water
  • 1.5 cups fresh strawberries, diced patted dry

Instructions

  • Take the cream cheese out of the fridge 30 to 45 minutes before starting so it softens fully at room temperature.
  • Beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until completely smooth and fluffy with no lumps.
  • Fold in the Cool Whip using a spatula with gentle strokes to keep the mixture light and airy. Set aside.
  • Mix the crushed pretzels with melted butter and granulated sugar until evenly coated. Press loosely into the bottom of your serving dish.
  • Dissolve the strawberry Jello in ¾ cup of boiling water and stir for 2 minutes. Let it cool at room temperature for 15 minutes until still liquid and warm but not hot.
  • Stir the diced, patted-dry strawberries into the cooled Jello and let sit for 5 more minutes.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture over the pretzel base in an even layer going all the way to the edges of the dish.
  • Spoon the strawberry Jello mixture over the cream cheese layer and spread gently. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until the Jello layer has firmed up slightly.
  • Before serving, sprinkle extra crushed pretzels on top or serve them in a bowl on the side with whole mini pretzels, graham crackers, or vanilla wafers for dipping.

Notes

Soften cream cheese fully before mixing to avoid lumps. Keep the Jello mixture warm and pourable before layering — do not let it set. Store extra crushed pretzels separately for max crunch. Make up to 24 hours ahead for best flavor.
